From a Hip Replacement to a World Cup

15 September 2023

Follow PRO Community Rider Stefan Garlicki’s mission to qualify for a DH World Cup after a full hip replacement.

PRO Community Rider Stefan Garlicki has endured a torrid time with injuries over the last five years. With the help of PRO’s components, he has been able to set his bike up so that he feels comfortable taking on World Cup Downhill courses again.

Following a full hip replacement in September 2022 and six months off the bike, Stefan Garlicki was ready to return to racing at round one of the 2023 UCI Downhill World Cup. As a professional downhill rider, with over a decade of experience, he has had his fair share of crashes and injuries. The last five years have been particularly tough and left him unable to even complete the track walk with his fellow competitors.

Garlicki’s goal for 2023 is to qualify for a World Cup, and he set out on the next step of that journey in Lenzerheide, where he was able to participate in practice and qualifying, pain free, for the first time in years. PRO’s components played a significant role in allowing him to get into race-ready form. Being comfortably set up on a bike that is dialed in for his needs allowed him to ride with confidence and attempt to become the first person to qualify for a World Cup following a full hip replacement. This showcases how effective customization can be and why you should also make it yours with PRO.
